We heard ‘alcohol’ and ‘vaping’ in the same sentence – we’re listening…
We love a good e-liquid (the funkier the better), but something even more eccentric is new on the vaping menu. We’ve sourced a new way for you to enjoy your alcoholic beverage of choice – through your lungs…
Bompas & Parr, experimental artists known for their quirky take on food design have designed a new project based in Borough Market, entitled ‘Alcohol Architecture’, whereby you can inhale your alcohol. Participants can order cocktails mixed specifically to compliment tastes in the air, and simply breathe them in!
Admittedly, it sounds weird, but hear us out. Spirits and mixers will be pumped into the air using powerful humidifiers, producing a vapour which can be breathed in; this means not only will you appear impossibly cool and on trend but this airborne cocktail bypasses the liver and goes, um, straight to your head, meaning you’ll feel the same effects from consuming 40 percent less alcohol. So it’s basically healthy drinking – win! Apparently the fumes enter your body through your mucus membranes (lungs and eyeballs) which sounds pretty damn bizarre and slightly dangerous (but mainly cool.)
Don’t try this at home though; the conditions have to be just right in order for this to work. Humidity has to be as high as 140%, meaning you’ll not only be feeling the heat but won’t be able to see more than a metre in front of you – if that’s not an incentive to avoid getting smashed, we don’t know what is. Participants are required to wear protective clothing, in order to avoid any damage to their glad rags. (In case you weren’t aware, alcohol is super flammable).
Not to worry though, it has been calculated that participants can spend up to an hour in the vaping room before it becomes unsafe, which is the equivalent to having one shot of spirit and mixer. So probably not somewhere to visit if you’re looking to have a crazy night, but something fun and different all the same… we were getting a little bored of pubs, anyway…
