So I thought I should look into the difference between a blue tip and a red tip battery – other than just the colour of course!
Well, when I say confused, It wasn’t until last month that I really gave this topic much thought, and that was only because a non-vaping friend asked me why some e-cigs come with a blue tip and some come with a red tip. I wasn’t really sure what to say and mumbled off something about going with different outfits and changed the subject quickly.
So since then I’ve made sure to go and find out a bit more about it.
Red tips are generally preferred by those who want their e-cig to look as much like a conventional cigarette as possible. Broadly speaking this is because they want the psychological boost that they are smoking a cigarette still. If it looks and feels like a cigarette then it makes it significantly easier for people to kick the tobacco habit completely. Plus there are the people who want to use their e-cigarette in public, but don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb chuffing away on a shiny silver tube. So again the more realistic the better as the user can blend in to their surroundings.
Blue tip fans fall in to 2 broad categories. Firstly are those who are trying to get away from nicotine altogether and the device looking like a cigarette is not important to them. The second group however are similar to the red tip lovers, in that they want to vape in public. The difference being that they want as little hassle as possible, and to ensure that people do not mistake their non-tobacco-containing-e-cig for an actual cigarette the blue light really does work perfectly.
It’s a common complaint from barmen, waiters, security guards etc – you can’t always tell if it’s an electronic cigarette or a tobacco cigarette when you’re on the other side of the room and you have to go and check to be sure. Yet, if there is a blue glow at the end of the small white stick they can be sure it’s not a tobacco cigarette, and don’t have to waste time going to check.
Luckily here at Vapourlites we cater for both sides of the debate and stock both the blue tip batteries or the red tip batteries, and we’ve even gone a step further and have the crystal tip battery too. The crystal battery fulfils a similar role to the blue tips, but with that added bit of bling. All of the batteries are available through the accessories page.
